The 2010 Music Competition will be held on Saturday, December 11th, 2010 at the Chicago Fine Arts Building (PianoForte and CYSO studios). This year we will be introducing an elementary division for students in grade five and younger, in addition to our junior and senior divisions. Please check our rules for more information.

Mission
The goals of the Sejong Music Competition are to discover talented young musicians and encourage them in their studies, and to also introduce traditional Korean music expressed through Western media. Through this competition we hope to increase the awareness and understanding of Korea’s cultural heritage amongst the younger generations growing up in the United States so as to promote harmony among people of various ethnic backgrounds and bridge Asian and Western cultures.

Eligibility
This competition is open to all pre-college students residing in the US regardless of ethnic background.

Major Supporters
The Sejong Music Competition is co-sponsored by the Korea Times Chicago and made possible through the generous support of the Seoul National University Alumni Association. It is supported in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. We would also like to thank the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras, PianoForte, Inc., and Elizabeth Stein, Co. for generously allowing us the use of their facilities.
